Lincoln City

August 5th
Ekadasi

Today we woke up sick coughing and full of mucus. It was freezing and the sun refused to come out early. We had no shower facility so we just woke up and started to ride. We were about 35 miles from Lincoln City. Problem: 25 miles of the ride were over the cascade range. Great fun for a day where you eat no grains. Generally our diet would consist of bread, peanut butter, bananas, sandwiches, other grains and more grains and more grains and more grains and more grains. Ekadasi's are hard because we can't eat grains. We were also in the middle of nowhere so we had to just absorb ourselves in lectures and neglect our dying bodies, our freezing hands, and non-showered bodies. We had one agenda-pedal fast and get to Lincoln city by lunch time. The ride throught the mountain range was very beautiful. The sun started to come out but lacked heat. We rode mostly through the shade of the mossy trees. The tree's were most uniquely covered in moss instead of leaves. Each time I saw a river some distance into the forest i desired to take a bath but it was just so cold. I didnt want to make the other boys wait too long for me. The ride into lincoln city was fun and easy because we just coasted down the hills. Here we met a common occurance. Upon entering cities we often would often see a large traffic jam. Due to being on bikes we would simply coast along the side of each vehicle with large smiles happy to be riding bicycles instead of those blood oil vehicles! Lincoln city may be a beach city but its very windy and cold. We finally made it to Brad and Dena's house! They had gone to the store and arrived just after us.
