mayapur

A short flight from Bhubenesvar took us to Kolkata. Here we took an evening taxi drive to Maypur. Jason swore on that night that he would never take an evening taxi to Mayapur again. I simply chanted Narasimha Mantras and went to sleep. The next time we went I also opted for a morning taxi rather than place ourselves in more danger than needed. Getting there did allow us to make it to the morning program on the appearance day of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur. Huge festivities on this day. The morning program was one big party that lasted til midday and culminated in a giant feast! My favorite Bengali subji and mountains of rice! I highly recommend arrving to a Holy dhama on a festival day because the potency of such places is easily revealed. We met up with our New vrindaban family such as Soma Prabhu and Gauranga Kishore Prabhu and went to Yoga Pith and BSST's temple for their festivities and offer our respects. It was a great pleasure to be home again and in the company of thosuands of Vaisnavas. Mayapur is most wonderful. Jason had his first ever bath in the Ganga! We spent three days buying mrdangas, attending kirtans, staring at saintly vaisnavas, and wandering around beautiful Mayapur with friends whom i have not seen in verylong time. My new favorite activity, bicycle riding around holy dhamas. Its worth he purchase to buy a bicyle if you are there for more than a week or find one you can borrow. next time...
